Who makes it
Kieera is designed and published by EXPENSEAR LLC, a company in Saudi Arabia, and sold on the App Store under that name. It runs in English and Arabic and ships as an update to our earlier app, Miqyasi.
The fox is Kieera's mascot. It reacts to what you log and never scolds: miss a day and it simply naps.
How the numbers are produced
Photo and text recognition is done by Google's Gemini model, which Kieera asks only with your permission. It names each food and estimates the portion, calories, protein, carbohydrates and fat. These are estimates: portion size is hard to judge from a picture, so every number is shown for you to check and change before it is saved.
The 79 built-in Gulf dishes carry typical serving sizes and nutrition estimates compiled by us from public food-composition data; they are starting points, not laboratory values. Barcode lookups use the Open Food Facts database.
Calorie and weight targets in the app, and the free calculators on this site, use published formulas: the Mifflin-St Jeor equation for daily energy, the World Health Organization's BMI ranges, and MET values from the 2024 Adult Compendium of Physical Activities. Each calculator page lists its formula and sources. None of it is medical advice.
